STAN BAILEY has 40 years of experience writing and reporting for daily newspapers in six states. He covered law enforcement, victims’ rights, state and federal trial and appeals courts, prisons, state government and politics for 32 years in the Montgomery, Alabama, bureau of The Birmingham News.

He did general assignment reporting for newspapers in Hollywood, Florida; Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; and Montgomery, Alabama; interned with newspapers in Memphis, Tennessee, and Jackson, Mississippi, and was editorial writer and editorial page editor of The Savannah Morning News in Savannah, Georgia.

He is a graduate of Mississippi State University, B.A. degree in English; features editor, MSU student newspaper, The Reflector; valedictorian, Class of 1960, at Vardaman, High School, Vardaman, Mississippi, sweet potato capital of the world.
